Persimmon is a native deciduous tree with dark, glossy green leaves. Fall color is variable, from yellow to red. Flowers are small and not ornamentally important. Female trees produce 1-2” red-orange edible fruits that mature in September and attract wildlife. The bark has an ornamental quality, developing a deep, blocky pattern similar to flowering dogwood.
